This is the jungle |

It's still good in the 'hood |
Onward. Or rather backwards, because this is a blog so we are traveling back in time. Last Monday I received two immense care packages in the mail on the very same day from the two LLLs.
|
Scrambled eggs made from Crystal Egg, my new favorite thing. It never needs refrigeration - great in a place without a consistent power supply, since I really don't think eggs were meant to be chilled and warmed and chilled again before being eaten, and doubly great for someone who can't stand the sight of raw eggs, like myself. Thanks Mama! Oh, and real tomato ketchup. |
|
My food trolley, the fullest it has ever been. |
|
Speaks for itself I think. |
|
On my porch, with one of the neighbor cows who has tentatively agreed to be my friend |
Backwards again, to last weekend.

Kate at work |

A wonderful drawing done by one of Kate's girls. |

The jungle mural at Kate's center |

Under the sea

Later that day we went to the launching of a new business, Kayakasia, where we did a little kayak-surfing and friend-making. Abby and I caught a few waves in our double, but not until one caught us first.

k & k |
|
Soaked, and getting my foot munched on by red ants. |
|
Buzzy's babies |
|
Abby showing off her ink |
A few days earlier still, we had had another kayaking adventure - his time on the Abatan river, near Todd's town - where we paddled through a centuries-old mangrove forest and then watched fireflies on the riverbank after dark.

Heading south on a racing bus, Jessica's hair flying

The teams: Todd and Kate in the background, Abby and Jessica in the foreground |

Quiet |

Twilight
|
|
Dark - with everyone swatting jumping shrimp out of their laps |
